This article will help you understand the various benefits of putting God first in your life and prayer to help you acknowledge him.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs, 3:5-6).
God is the source of all life. He knows every creation to the very details. He knew us even before we were conceived in our mother’s womb.
All our days fashioned for us were written in His book even before one day started. God saw our substance being yet unformed, yet He also knows the number of hairs on our heads.
This shows that God is much concerned about our lives, and He expects us to involve Him in everything we do.
In all our ways, we need to acknowledge Him, and He is ready to direct our paths. This is what we call, putting God first in everything we do.
What are the benefits of putting God first in everything we do?
- Our thoughts will be established: Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established. (Proverbs, 16:3). When we put God first in all we do, He takes control of our thoughts. This means that whatever we will be thinking will be in line with His will.
- All the other things shall be added unto us: If we seek first the kingdom of God and all righteousness and not to worry about what we shall eat, drink or wear, God will definitely take care of all our needs; we shall never be in want as He becomes our Shepherd. We will have rest in Him and have no room for anxiety and worries.
- God shall reveal His will and purpose in our lives: Putting God first is not conforming to the patterns of this world. It is presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. This is after renewing our minds to be able to prove what is that good and acceptable, perfect will of God in our lives ( Romans 12:1-3).
Prayers to keep God first in your life
Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you for creating us, knowing us even before we were formed in our mother’s womb.
Thank you for your in-depth knowledge that you have about us. Knowing our thoughts from afar. Thank you for your word that tells us that we should never lean on our own understanding.
However, in all our ways, we acknowledge You because You have promised to direct our paths. Lord, we chose to put You first in everything that we do.
We surrender our lives unto you that you may lead and order our steps with Your word, which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our paths. We praise you and worship you. In Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!!
Prayer for Forgiveness
Please, Lord, forgive us for sometimes forgetting to acknowledge you in all that we do. We pray that you may forgive us because you are always faithful and just to forgive us and purify us from all unrighteousness when we confess our sins to you.
Forgive us for allowing anxiety and fear to dominate our minds and for letting ego and selfishness control our behavior in Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!!!
A Prayer to commit your way to the Lord
Please God, as we commit our ways unto You, we ask that you establish our thoughts that they may align themselves with you and your will in our lives.
May your ways take pre-eminence in our lives because it is never about us but about your will being done in our lives. Guide us and give us wisdom in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Even as we put You first by seeking thy kingdom and all thy righteousness, we are assured that all the other things that we need shall be added unto us.
Help us never be anxious about anything, but resting upon your promises, we may have the peace that surpasses all human understanding.
Our father who art in heaven, we chose to present our bodies as a living sacrifice that you may use to accomplish your will here on earth.
Help us never to conform to the patterns of this world, for the world and all that is in it is passing away and the lust of it, but those who dwell by the will of God will abide forever. Amen and Amen.
Make it a priority to start your day with God, put him in everything you do, everything you say, and in everything you think, and end your day with God.
