A recent study concluded that drinking diet soda causes early death. This research had been done in Europe, wherein approximately half of a million inhabitants were included.
According to the study, people who used to drink more than two glasses of diet every day (diet or regular) were seen dying up to 17%. The study was made for nearly two decades. Read on to see the full detail of the research.
The research on sugary drinks
In the research, 451,743 women and men from 10 European nations were included. The study involved people from:

This observation was made from the period (1992 & 2000) on their drink and food consumption habits. The report was quite shocking for researchers. It stated that drinking sugary soft drinks up to 2 glasses or more had been associated with digestive diseases.
The study also found that participants who drank the same amount of diet soda suffered diseases like:

Then they had been excluded from the survey. 71.1% were reported to be females, and their mean age was calculated to be 50.8.
As the above study, it has been revealed in numerous studies recently. However, researchers warned that consumption of sugary drinks could lead to an unhealthy lifestyle.
The study also revealed that high soft drinkers had a higher amount of BMI (Body Mass Index). They were reported to be tobacco smokers at that time. Additionally, they made some statistical alterations that might have changed the outcome slightly with the remaining positive associations.
From the findings of the study, researchers also found something else. The report stated that there were other reasons too which resulted in diseases and pre-mature death, including:

This new study published by the Washington Post was even more surprising. It showed that people who consumed glasses of diet drinks led to more deaths in comparison to sugary beverages. Yes, diet soda causes early death, as per the latest findings.
However, a researcher also gave the opinion that sugary drinks impacted badly, which made unhealthy people changed their taste to diet drinks.
The research gave a possible explanation like those who were at greater dangers from beforehand like people suffering from pre-diabetes or overweight changed their preference to diet drinks to take care of sugar and calorie intake.
There is some good news as well. Researchers found NO direct connection between consumption of soft drinks and deaths from the disease of Alzheimer’s.
