7 Easy Ways to Reduce Stress

Life is full of stressors. Whether it’s the pandemic, work, family issues, or something else entirely, we can all use a little extra help in managing our stress levels. But what to do? That’s why I’ve put together this list of seven easy things you can do to reduce stress and get back on track to feeling your best self. Let’s take a look!

1. Get Organized

Having an organized life can help reduce stress levels. Because it will help you stay on task and make decisions more easily since everything is organized in front of you. Here are some tips to get organized:

  • Choose one room or area of your home where you can store items neatly
  • designate a time each day for organizing
  • try using file folders or boxes for important items
  • tackle one task at a time
  • schedule regular cleaning sessions
  • wash the dish after every meal
  • set up reminders for appointments
  • start journaling
  • create lists of tasks/goals
  • use digital systems like Google Calendar or Apple’s Reminders App.

All of these tips will help you stay organized and reduce stress.

2. Get Moving

Exercise releases endorphins, which are hormones that make us feel good and reduce our stress levels. Whether you take a walk around the neighborhood or fit in a full workout session, getting your body moving helps relieve tension and boost your mood.

3. Make Time for Relaxation

Carving out time each day specifically dedicated to relaxation is key for reducing stress levels. Take 10 minutes each day just for yourself and do something that makes you happy – watch an episode of your favorite show, take a bubble bath, listen to music… whatever works for you!

4. Try Yoga or Meditation

Both yoga and meditation have been proven to be effective in reducing emotional stress. Taking time each day for one or both of these activities will allow you to slow down, refocus, and clear your mind of negative thoughts that may be contributing to your overall feelings of stress.

5. Talk It Out

If there is someone close by who understands how you are feeling, then talking about those feelings may help relieve some stress. As well as give you a different perspective on what is going on in your life right now. Whether it’s a friend or family member, or even a professional counselor, talking about our problems can often be cathartic!

6. Get Enough Sleep

It may seem obvious, but getting enough sleep every night should not be underestimated when it comes to reducing stress levels. After all, when we are tired, our emotions tend to run higher than normal. So making sure you get enough restful sleep will ensure our bodies (and minds) remain calm during stressful times!

7. Eat Well

Eating healthy foods is also important in reducing stress levels. Whole foods such as fruits and vegetables are packed with nutrients that support our immune system and help us fight off illness and fatigue. Make sure to include plenty of protein in your diet as well, including eggs, nuts, beans, Greek yogurt, and fish, as these provide essential amino acids that help maintain our mental stability during difficult times. Also, try to avoid processed food items as much as possible since they can contribute to feelings of depression or anxiety due to their high sugar content.
